Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Soon Do!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 2 - 1, fighting out of New York, Julio Quintana!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Dmitry Maklakov and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Do connects with a single shot there.
Quintana throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Do throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Do has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Korea Elite MMA in the buildup to the fight.

and Quintana counters with a nice kick to the body.
Do connects with a good right hand that stumbles Quintana. Quintana circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

letting Quintana counter with a right hand.
Quintana does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Quintana.

Do works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Do avoids the head kick by Quintana.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Quintana is pressing down on Do's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Do wants to control from the top but Quintana keeps moving.
Do throws a big elbow that misses.
Do postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Do trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Quintana has his hands on Do's head, controlling the position.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Quintana is on top in guard.
Do is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Quintana slips nicely into half guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Do makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Do.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Soon Do will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Soon Do's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Quintana feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Do's calf.
Do loads up on a big right hand but Quintana slips the punch.
Quintana tries a head kick but it misses.
Quintana on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Do throws a hook but Quintana avoids it easily.
Do slips a straight right by Quintana.

Quintana keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Do scores with a sloppy right hand. Quintana should have avoided that one.
Do fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Quintana fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Do to the ground. Quintana is now in Do's guard.

Quintana tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Do manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Do listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Good leg kick by Do there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Quintana will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Do throws a right hand that Quintana ducks under and follows up with a left that Quintana also avoids with ease.

That kick from Quintana tenderised Do's leg. Do is trying to keep his angry face on.

Quintana must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Do working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Quintana doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Quintana manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Do will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body.
