Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aaron Yates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Santos Goncalves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yates comes to the cage accompanied by Here comes Tecca Nina - Tech N9ne. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A lazy left from Yates finds it's target. Goncalves shoots for a takedown but Yates saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Jab, jab by Yates - just one landing. Goncalves changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Yates tries to avoid it but Goncalves manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Yates to the ground. Yates escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Yates scores with a body shot.
Goncalves goes for a double leg but Yates avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Yates continues to drive forward. Aaron Yates has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Santos Goncalves. Yates can't break the clinch.
Goncalves wants to take the fight to the mat but Yates manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Goncalves jumps guard and drags Yates to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Yates is looking to stand up but Goncalves won't let him. Yates knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Goncalves on the ground. Goncalves looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Yates passes into side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Goncalves tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's one minute gone in the round. Yates tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. Goncalves is looking to regain half guard here but Yates keeps moving and retains side control. Goncalves sneaks back into half guard. Yates wants to stand but Goncalves has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. Goncalves actively working from the bottom here. Yates wants to stand but Goncalves has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Goncalves escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Yates gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Goncalves has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Yates can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Goncalves is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Yates defends well. Goncalves working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Yates doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Yates manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Goncalves is looking for a triangle here but Yates uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Goncalves tries to grapple but his opponent circles letting Yates counter with a right hand. No luck for Goncalves with that takedown attempt. Nice jab there from Yates. Yates darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Yates dips to his left and cracks Goncalves with an uppercut! Goncalves throws an ugly left hook that misses
enabling Yates to counter with a crisp jab. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Goncalves shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Goncalves showed some decent athleticism there. Goncalves is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Yates is just riding it out for now. Goncalves eventually gives up the hold. Goncalves is breathing heavily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Goncalves is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Yates has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Yates!

A close second round but Santos Goncalves will probably get the nod - 10:9. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Yates uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Goncalves. Yates scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. A shot to the liver by Yates. Beautiful body shot. A cross from Yates lands. Goncalves has his takedown stuffed and Yates counters with a right hand to the body. Goncalves on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Yates fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Goncalves on the side of the head. Goncalves takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Goncalves walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. This has been an exciting period of action! Goncalves shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Yates but Yates pushes him off and we're back to square one. Santos Goncalves seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Goncalves darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Goncalves takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
