Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Amos Kelley! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Jones! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Robert Twigg and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones tries to clinch and Kelley counters by clinching up. Jones gets underhooks to prevent Kelley's takedown attempt.
Jones gets through Kelley's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Jones is leaning against Kelley and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. Jones has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Kelley uses from the top position. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Kelley is looking to work some ground and pound but Jones has wrist control. Jones manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Jones is looking to stand but Jones has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.
Jones prevents Kelley from getting the reversal. Jones is in the full mount, landing strikes. Jones sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Jones moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Kelley has worked his arm free - good work by Kelley!
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kelley keeps working. Jones throws an elbow but Kelley slips to the side and avoids it well. Jones is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Jones trying to control the position but Kelley is working away. Jones wants to stand but Kelley has his arm trapped. Jones is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kelley knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kelley regains half guard, as Jones was trying to land strikes. Kelley trying to hold on to Jones's head to control him but Jones postures up.
Jones trying to advance position but Kelley counters by regaining guard. Jones sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Kelley's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Kelley is trying to control but can't.
Jones is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Jones wants to free his trapped foot but Kelley is holding on for dear life with his legs. Kelley tries to kick Jones off but Jones keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Kelley is trying to control but can't.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jones trying to work for an americana but Kelley has managed to regain full guard.
Jones passes Kelley's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Jones lands with a punch from half guard. Kelley is refusing to be controlled, as Jones sits in half guard. Kelley makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Kelley. Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Kelley is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Jones stops Kelley from standing up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Jones dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Kelley tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Jones manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Kelley doesn't succeed with the takedown and Jones counters with a shoot takedown. Kelley fights it but they end up in guard. Jones pushing down on Kelley's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Jones is figuring out what he wants to do next. Kelley on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Jones wants to free his trapped foot but Kelley is holding on for dear life with his legs. Jones perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Jones is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Kelley has managed to free his arm - good work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kelley wants to improve his position but Jones is controlling well.
Jones throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Jones lands strikes from half guard. Jones lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Jones slows the pace down in half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kelley wants to control but Jones is keeping busy.

Jones looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Kelley haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Kelley is trying to get back to full guard. Jones is taking a breather. Kelley says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Jones trying to control the action but Kelley is working from the bottom.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. John Jones wasn't active enough on the ground. Jones moves into range and clinches up with Kelley.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jones is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Kelley to keep the fight standing. Jones manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Jones seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Kelley trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Jones keeping moving, preventing Kelley from controlling successfully. Jones is looking for a triangle but Kelley pushes his legs off easily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Jones looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Kelley shoots for a takedown but Jones saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Jones has closed the distance and engaged Kelley in a clinch.
Jones manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Jones goes for a takedown attempt but Kelley pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Jones drives through with a takedown into Kelley's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Jones stands and steps away. Kelley gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Kelley wants to clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones dives in and scores a takedown into Kelley's guard. Jones wants to stand but Kelley has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Kelley had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jones defends it easily. Kelley wants to sweep but no luck. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jones accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Kelley wants to get back to his feet but Jones is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kelley seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Jones's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Jones's corner is telling him to maintain position. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
John Jones has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Jones dives in and scores a takedown into Kelley's guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Jones wants to stand and escape but instead Kelley has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Jones takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kelley stops Jones from standing up. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jones can do anything to dispel that myth. Jones controlling the position. Jones keeping moving, preventing Kelley from controlling successfully. Kelley pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Jones is keeping the position for now. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Kelley postures up in Jones's guard and throws a big left but Jones blocks it.

OK we're going to have a standup here. John Jones hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Jones shoots in for a takedown but Kelley shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Jones leaves Kelley with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Kelley. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Amos Kelley. That's going to take a lot out of him. Jones shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Kelley's guard. Kelley working a defensive guard but Jones passes into half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Jones is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Kelley has managed to free his arm - good work. Jones is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kelley defends it well.
And that's the end of the fight! John Jones comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Jones has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
