Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Johny Rico (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Diego Carlo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rico comes to the cage accompanied by Bolt Thrower - The IVth Crusade . Diego Carlo looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Johny Rico! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Diego Carlo! The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Peter Branson and Santiago Holmes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A head kick misses from Rico. Carlo looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Rico closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Rico escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Carlo keeps the fight on the outside. Carlo is trying hard to land a takedown here. Rico sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Rico shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Carlo's guard. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Rico looking to pass the guard. Rico might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Carlo wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Rico is now in half guard. Rico thows a huge punch but Carlo dodges it nicely.
Rico seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Rico missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rico trying to mount his opponent but Carlo defends it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rico has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Carlo works to full guard. Rico drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Rico jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Rico slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Rico knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Carlo on the ground. Rico has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rico trying to control but Carlo is working from the bottom.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Johny Rico just wasn't active enough. Carlo slaps away a takedown attempt from Rico, before circling back to the center of the mat. Carlo gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Rico works a leg free and moves into half guard. Rico tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carlo keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Rico throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Carlo felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Rico decides to return to a standing position. Rico scores with a takedown into Carlo's guard. Rico has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Carlo is proving hard to escape from. Rico sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Carlo's guard. Rico missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Carlo is looking to improve his position.
Rico is looking to take a break and control but Carlo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Rico stalling. This has been an exciting period of action! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Carlo avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Rico. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Rico. Rico has taken the fight to the clinch.
Carlo has Rico pressed against the cage, preventing Rico from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Rico pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Rico feints and as Carlo raises his hands in defense, Rico changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Rico in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Rico working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Carlo keeping full guard, as Rico tries to pass. Rico missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Carlo is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Rico defends well. Carlo is breathing heavily. Carlo has a closed guard, preventing Rico from standing up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rico has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Rico content to stall in guard here. Rico wants to control from the top but Carlo keeps moving. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Rico not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Rico has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Carlo after a bit of a struggle. Rico breaks from the clinch.
Rico shoots in for a double leg but Carlo sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johny Rico. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rico fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Carlo, pushing him back against the cage. Rico tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Carlo just stands there and leans against the cage. Rico works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Rico would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Rico seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Rico pushes down on Carlo's leg and manages to get into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rico is looking to take a break and control but Carlo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Rico is thwarting Carlo's attempts to control the position. Rico throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Rico stalling. Rico trying to control the action but Carlo is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Rico with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Johny Rico has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Rico has a takedown stuffed. Carlo fails with a takedown attempt. Rico tries to clinch but Carlo moves out of range. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Rico misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Rico closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Rico lands in his opponent's guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rico trying to control but Carlo is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Rico postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Johny Rico just wasn't active enough. Rico shoots in and drives through. Carlo sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johny Rico. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rico shoots in but Carlo avoids the takedown attempt easily. Rico clinches. Rico pulls guard effortlessly. Carlo stopping the sweep attempt from Rico.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rico looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Carlo puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Rico is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Carlo's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Carlo's back! Carlo can't escape the position.
Rico is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Carlo knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Carlo for a finish. Carlo fending off the submission attempt from Rico. Carlo is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Carlo tries to escape the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rico looking for the choke from the back. You can see the frustration on Carlo's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Rico has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. Rico is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Carlo has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Carlo covering up well and avoiding damage. Carlo fending off the submission attempt from Rico. Rico somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back. Diego Carlo has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Johny Rico is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Rico has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
And that's the end of the fight! Johny Rico showed his dominance in that final round. Well Rico has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
