Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Hunt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Johnny Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mark Hunt!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Skip Squint and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hunt shoots in looking for a takedown. Smith tries to sprawl out of it but Hunt keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Smith manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Hunt closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Hunt gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Smith.
Hunt is looking for a takedown.
Hunt tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Smith just stands there and leans against the cage.
Johnny Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Hunt.
Hunt has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Smith after a bit of a struggle.
Hunt jumps guard but Smith turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Smith has Hunt pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Hunt manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Hunt pulls Smith into guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Smith thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Smith is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Smith is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Hunt is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Hunt has escaped and now he's on top!
Hunt postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hunt throws a big elbow that misses.
Hunt trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Smith manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
Hunt is trying to keep Smith in close.

Smith postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Hunt is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Smith, into his guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Smith could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hunt is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Mark Hunt.
Hunt darts in looking for a takedown but Smith gets double underhooks and turns Hunt into the cage.

Hunt breaks the clinch.
Hunt shoots in but no luck this time.

Hunt rushes Smith and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mark Hunt dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Hunt moves to clinch but Smith breaks away

and Smith counters with a single leg into guard. Hunt didn't expect that.

Smith is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Smith drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Hunt manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Smith has Hunt in his guard.
Hunt stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smith swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hunt's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Hunt wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Mark Hunt was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Hunt misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hunt tries to clinch but Smith moves away

and Smith counters with a takedown into side control.

Smith wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hunt, who protects the arm well.

Smith thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Smith is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hunt knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Smith has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Hunt is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Smith yanks on the arm and Hunt is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Smith.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Johnny Smith!
