Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mitsuyo Maeda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ted Coke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Coke's choice of entrance music: Cocaine. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Ted Coke enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 20 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mitsuyo Maeda!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Ted Coke!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Alan Glass and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Coke misses with a head kick.

Maeda bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Maeda throwing strikes but Coke manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Coke moves into full mount!

Coke stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

Maeda drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Maeda trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Maeda has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Coke is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The crowd cheers as Coke lands an impressive looking overhand right. Maeda doesn't seem phased though.
Coke tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Maeda displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Coke.

Maeda will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Coke misses with an uppercut. Maeda saw that one coming.

Maeda closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Maeda throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Maeda throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Coke works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Maeda stalling away here and it's allowed Coke to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Maeda throws a big elbow that misses.
Maeda throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Coke works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Coke preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Coke throws a right hand that Maeda ducks under and follows up with a left that Maeda also avoids with ease.

Maeda changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Coke looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Coke is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Maeda is controlling him well.

Coke slaps away a takedown attempt from Maeda, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Coke keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Coke throws a lazy right hand but Maeda sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Coke closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Coke jumps guard but Maeda turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Coke gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Coke working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Maeda manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Coke pulls guard successfully.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Coke is looking to stand up but Maeda isn't so interested in that idea.
Maeda throws an elbow that misses. Coke uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Maeda's guard. Nice move by Coke!

Maeda is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Coke is controlling him.
Mitsuyo Maeda overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Coke thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Ted Coke will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Maeda ducks under a wild hook from Coke.
Coke stuffs the takedown attempt from Maeda. Maeda gets slowly back to his feet.
Maeda leaves Coke with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Coke missing with a left hand there. Maeda was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
No luck for Maeda with that takedown attempt.

and Maeda counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Coke pushes Maeda off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

After the big win, Mitsuyo Maeda made sure to do all the important stuff like thanking his sponsors Milwaukee's Best 160 and telling the interviewer how much he loves him.
The defeated Ted Coke had this to say: 'He was the better fighter today, but trust me, I am going to come back .. come back better prepared and in better condition !!!'.
