PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Allan Newmann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeremy Pettis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 1, fighting out of London, Allan Newmann!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Jeremy Pettis!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Albert Achterberg and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pettis punishes Newmann's body with a nice straight punch.
Newmann shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Pettis defends it nicely.
Newmann takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Pettis leaves Newmann with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Pettis throws a lazy right hand but Newmann sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Pettis throws a shot from downtown. Newmann moves away and avoids it.
We've been informed that Pettis has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Newmann moves forwards but Pettis connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Pettis takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Newmann tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Pettis swivels and escapes.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Newmann has been working on his balance at S-1 Complete Fighter Fitness, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Pettis.

Pettis might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Newmann. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

Oh Newmann is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Newmann takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Pettis steps in with a hook that catches Newmann right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Pettis follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Newmann looks absolutely devastated.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:10 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jeremy Pettis!

After winning the bout, Jeremy Pettis thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
