The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Maloney fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Williams sprawls well initially but Maloney persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Maloney is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Maloney prevents Williams from improving his position.

Williams tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Maloney winds up and cracks Williams with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Maloney seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Williams does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Williams looking for a guillotine here but Maloney defends easily.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Williams is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Maloney is looking to control Williams's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Maloney avoid being mounted?

BOOM! Williams connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Williams is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Maloney is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Maloney lands one or two decent shots to the body here. Although from his own half guard, he's not going to be causing too much damage.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Maloney gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Maloney must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Stryder Maloney showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Horrible takedown by Williams or perhaps it was just good defense by Maloney which made him look bad.
No luck for Maloney with that takedown attempt.
Williams blocks a jab.
Maloney throws a head kick but Williams moves out of range.
Maloney wants to slow Williams down by chopping away at his legs.
Williams checks the leg kick.
Maloney throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Williams shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Maloney's guard.
Williams wants to control from the top but Maloney keeps moving.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Let's hope that Maloney has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Williams had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Maloney is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Williams Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Maloney's back instead.

Well Maloney has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
