Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
19 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Michael Kimmo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
18 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Henry Ngo! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Ben Hemmingworth and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ngo closes the distance and clinches up with Kimmo, looking for a takedown. Ngo pushes Kimmo against the cage but Kimmo circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Ngo circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ngo fails with a takedown attempt. Kimmo lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
It looks like Henry Ngo has been cut. Ngo shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kimmo defends it nicely. Michael Kimmo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Henry Ngo. Kimmo moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Ngo shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Ngo was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! This has been an exciting period of action! We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Kimmo wants to control but Ngo postures up. Ngo trying to control the action but Kimmo is working from the bottom. Kimmo is looking to regain half guard here but Ngo keeps moving and retains side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ngo is looking to take a break and control but Kimmo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Ngo tries for a kimura but Kimmo is defending well. Ngo creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Kimmo sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Ngo is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Kimmo is trying to escape and Ngo transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Kimmo is forced to tap! Nice work there by Ngo! Very nice indeed!
