The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lewis fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

and Wilcox counters with a nice body kick.
Wilcox tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Lewis manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Wilcox closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Lewis chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Wilcox can pounce on him.
A right-left combo lands from Wilcox.
Lewis closes the distance and clinches up with Wilcox, looking for a takedown. Lewis pushes Wilcox against the cage but Wilcox circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Gareth Wilcox has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Lewis.

Lewis tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Wilcox defends well and Lewis ends up having to push Wilcox into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

A solid body kick from Wilcox.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Lewis is defended easily by Wilcox.
Wilcox jabs Lewis to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Wilcox rushes Lewis and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Lewis is trying to pull guard but Wilcox turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Wilcox scores with a nice hook to the head.
Lewis is trying desperately to land a takedown but Wilcox is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Lewis.

and Wilcox counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Both fighters circling a little - Wilcox finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Wilcox lands with a slapping head kick.
Lewis swats away the attempt to clinch by Wilcox.
Lewis changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Wilcox tries to avoid it but Lewis manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Wilcox to the ground. Wilcox escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
