The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bernard tries to clinch up but Van Der Hill circles away and keeps his distance.

and Van Der Hill counters with a nice low kick that buckles Bernard's knee momentarily.

Bernard shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Van Der Hill but Van Der Hill pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Van Der Hill tightens his grip and picks Bernard up, before dumping him to the ground. Bernard manages to land in guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Van Der Hill is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Van Der Hill gets to his feet and stands over Bernard, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Bernard felt that one! Van Der Hill unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Bernard from any more punishment!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Marco Van Der Hill!
