The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akulenko feints a jab promting Matthews to slip. Akulenko then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Matthews slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Akulenko connects with a body shot that sends Matthews's belly button to the back.
Akulenko uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Matthews.
Matthews avoids the head kick by Akulenko.
A jab lands there for Matthews.
Akulenko misses with a wild combination.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Matthews.
Matthews throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Eugeniy Akulenko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Matthews throws a head kick that misses.
