Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lucas Dos Anjos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fabio Maldonado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fabio Maldonado!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Mauricio Rocha and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dos Anjos shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Maldonado sprawls well. Maldonado wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Dos Anjos gets slowly back to his feet.

and Maldonado counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Maldonado shoots in looking for a takedown. Dos Anjos tries to sprawl out of it but Maldonado keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Dos Anjos manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Dos Anjos shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Maldonado as he avoids it easily.
Dos Anjos is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Maldonado tries to clinch but Dos Anjos moves out of range.
Maldonado throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Dos Anjos's waist but Dos Anjos gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Maldonado off to one side.

Maldonado throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Dos Anjos tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Maldonado is in Dos Anjos's guard.

Dos Anjos tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Maldonado defends well and Dos Anjos ends up having to push Maldonado into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Fabio Maldonado showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Dos Anjos ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Dos Anjos no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Maldonado is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Maldonado is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Dos Anjos got a little sloppy there for a moment and Maldonado has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Dos Anjos has managed to get both his arms back between Maldonado's legs - danger averted.

Lucas Dos Anjos is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

I've got Maldonado winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
