Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Michal Velasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Island Hunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Michal Velasquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Island Hunter!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hunter forces Velasquez back against the cage and clinches.

Hunter jumps into guard, dragging Velasquez to the mat.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Hunter utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Velasquez throws a big elbow that misses.
Hunter is controlling Velasquez's posture.
Velasquez trying to control but Hunter is working from the bottom.
Hunter is pulling down on Velasquez's head. It's preventing any offense from Velasquez, at least for the moment.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Island Hunter hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Hunter lands a nice looking body kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Hunter gets tackled into the cage by Velasquez. Velasquez maintains the clinch.

Hunter turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Velasquez sneaks back into half guard.
Velasquez has hold of Hunter's hands but Hunter slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Hunter is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Velasquez has managed to free his arm - good work.

Hunter stands up and beckons Velasquez to join him on the feet.

Hunter drives through with a takedown into guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Velasquez keeping full guard, as Hunter tries to pass.
Velasquez is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Hunter controls from within his opponent's guard.
Hunter wants to pass the guard but Velasquez is keeping the position.
Hunter's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Island Hunter has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Hunter tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Velasquez manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Hunter moves into the clinch successfully.
Hunter is trying to drag Velasquez to the mat but Velasquez just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Velasquez is trying to pull guard but Hunter turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Hunter breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hunter wants to clinch up but Velasquez keeps it at a distance.
Velasquez tries for a takedown but Hunter circles away easily
and Hunter counters with a stiff right hand.
Velasquez is breathing heavily.

Hunter drives through with a takedown into Velasquez's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Velasquez being controlled here, momentarily.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Velasquez has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Hunter is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Velasquez.

Hunter stands up.
Hunter throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Velasquez.


It looks like Michal Velasquez has been cut.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hunter tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Velasquez paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Hunter keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michal Velasquez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hunter scores with a head kick. Velasquez tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Island Hunter dominated that round.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Hunter looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Velasquez!

Hunter decides to stand back up. Hunter steps back and let's Velasquez get back to his feet.

Hunter gets a takedown into half guard.
Hunter slows the pace down in half guard.
Velasquez pushes Hunter off looking to stand but Hunter dives back in and keeps control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Velasquez is looking to control Hunter's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Velasquez avoid being mounted?

Velasquez is looking to escape.
Hunter not doing much here.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Hunter's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Island Hunter.

Hunter feints and as Velasquez raises his hands in defense, Hunter changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Hunter connects with a couple of short punches.

Velasquez is working an open guard so Hunter takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Hunter shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Velasquez actively working from the bottom here.
Hunter is controlling the pace.
Hunter is nestled in close to Velasquez, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Hunter is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Velasquez won't allow Hunter to pass to mount.
Velasquez wants to get back to full guard.

Island Hunter has got the better of the ground game so far.

Hunter has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Hunter is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Velasquez has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Hunter connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Island Hunter showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Hunter shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Hunter is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Velasquez defends it well.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Hunter with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Island Hunter was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Hunter misses with a head kick.
Velasquez throws the left hand but Hunter avoids the punch easily.

Hunter shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Velasquez manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Velasquez had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hunter defends it easily.

Hunter prevents Velasquez from getting back to his feet.
Hunter is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Island Hunter hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Hunter plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

Hunter looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Hunter must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Velasquez is trying to keep Hunter in close.

Hunter stands and steps away. Velasquez gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Hunter shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Hunter showed some decent athleticism there.

Hunter really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Velasquez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Hunter stands up and beckons Velasquez to his feet.
Hunter bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Hunter looking to score a takedown here. Velasquez is defending well but Hunter drives through and ends up in Velasquez's guard.
Velasquez looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hunter is one step ahead there.

And that's the end of the fight!
Island Hunter comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Hunter has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
