Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sagara Sanosuke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Zidel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zidel is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Are You In? - Incubus. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sagara Sanosuke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paul Zidel!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Cecil Peabody and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Sanosuke.

Sanosuke rushes Zidel and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Sanosuke escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Sanosuke rushes Zidel and presses him up against the cage.

Sanosuke breaks from the clinch.

Sanosuke throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Zidel was covering up waiting for the punch and Sanosuke finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Sanosuke stays in close to Zidel's body and controls the position.

Sanosuke stands up and waves to Zidel to follow him.
Zidel tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Sanosuke manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Sanosuke will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Sanosuke fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Zidel.

Sanosuke drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Zidel really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sanosuke. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Sanosuke cracks Zidel with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Sanosuke shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Zidel defends it nicely.
Zidel tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sanosuke swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Zidel doesn't manage to clinch there - Sanosuke circles away.
A decent looking cross lands there for Sanosuke.
Paul Zidel is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Sanosuke has taken the fight to the clinch.

Zidel tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Sanosuke counters with a left and a right that stings Zidel.
Nice uppercut there from Sanosuke.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Zidel crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Sanosuke - the referee stops the clock and Zidel gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Sanosuke. Zidel manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Zidel tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Sanosuke paws at him with a jab and circles away.
The crowd cheers as Sanosuke lands an impressive looking overhand right. Zidel doesn't seem phased though.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Zidel slaps away a takedown attempt from Sanosuke, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Zidel wants to clinch
and Sanosuke counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Sanosuke lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Zidel pushes Sanosuke away with a front kick.
Zidel's coach down at Den of Tears (22 coaches, $275 fee) was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Zidel's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Zidel chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Sanosuke can pounce on him.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Zidel is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Zidel can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Sanosuke controls the pace.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Sagara Sanosuke.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Sanosuke feints a jab promting Zidel to slip. Sanosuke then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Zidel slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Zidel had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Sanosuke defends it easily.

Well Sanosuke has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
