Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ricky Rickarderson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Moj Cro Cop! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Stewart Dunkirk and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cop throws a body kick, spinning off balance and Rickarderson counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Cop scores with a body shot.
Cop throws a jab but it's blocked by Rickarderson. Rickarderson swings widly with a right hand
letting Cop counter with a right hand. Cop attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Cop throws a lazy right hand but Rickarderson sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Rickarderson avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Cop pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Rickarderson swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Rickarderson misses with a hook. Rickarderson tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Cop defends well and Rickarderson ends up having to push Cop into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Rickarderson dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Rickarderson is trying to push Cop away but Cop has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Cop blocking some punches.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rickarderson tries to land a knee to the head but Cop blocks with his arms.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Rickarderson. Cop stops a takedown attempt from Rickarderson.
The referee is keeping an eye on Rickarderson - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Rickarderson gets a warning from the ref for wasting time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rickarderson tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Rickarderson is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ricky Rickarderson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Cop blocking some punches.
Rickarderson has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Cop after a bit of a struggle. Rickarderson looking for a takedown. Rickarderson prevents Cop from breaking the clinch. Rickarderson ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Rickarderson no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Rickarderson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cop is one step ahead there. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Rickarderson holds on and takes a little breather. Cop wants to control from the top but Rickarderson keeps moving. Rickarderson throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rickarderson is adopting a defensive guard. Cop trying to control but Rickarderson is working from the bottom. Cop would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Cop being controlled here momentarily. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rickarderson lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Cop! Rickarderson landing strikes from the mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rickarderson working away from the top, dropping strikes. Cop avoids a series of strikes thrown by Rickarderson.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rickarderson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Rickarderson raining down shots from the mount!
Cop is rocked! Rickarderson lands a big shot to the head and Cop winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!
