Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pedro Nava!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Trevor Gratis and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Nava enables Jackson Jr to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Nava manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Jackson Jr works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Jackson Jr is looking for a kimura but Nava is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Jackson Jr to get the leverage.

Jackson Jr is working for a kimura but Nava is defending it quite comfortably.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Nava trying to hold on to Jackson Jr's head to control him but Jackson Jr postures up.
Jackson Jr prevents Nava from standing back up.

Jackson Jr looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Nava has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jackson Jr is working away from the top position though.

Jackson Jr is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Nava doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Jackson Jr.

Nava is trying to get back to full guard.
Jackson Jr has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Jackson Jr looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Jackson Jr has control of Nava's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Nava regains control of the situation pretty easily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Nava throwing hammer fists to the chest of Jackson Jr. What's that going to do exactly?

Nava keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Jackson Jr has hold of Nava's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Nava manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Nava can't escape the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jackson Jr working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Nava looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Jackson Jr! Submission of the night perhaps?
