Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gaston Souffrant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and eddie toode (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Souffrant comes to the ring accompanied by Darude - Sandstorm. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Eddie Farnsworth and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

toode lands with a nice combination. Souffrant backs away looking to recover.
toode tries to close the distance and clinch but Souffrant swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Souffrant might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Souffrant had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. toode is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Souffrant Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take toode's back instead.
Souffrant has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, toode has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Souffrant working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. toode doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. toode manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Souffrant is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Souffrant working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. toode doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Souffrant is tightening it up a little... toode has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! toode reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! toode taps out! nice BJJ there by Souffrant!
