Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Merridew (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jugdish Patel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jack Merridew!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jugdish Patel!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Merridew swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Patel takes one to the side of the head.
Merridew lands a nice looking body shot.
Jack Merridew seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Merridew loads up on a big right hand but Patel slips the punch.

Patel throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Merridew tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Patel is in Merridew's guard.
Patel distracts Merridew with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Merridew pulls Patel in to control the position.
Patel is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Patel looking to pass the guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Patel accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Patel not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jugdish Patel was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Patel will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Nice straight punches there by Merridew. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Merridew.
Merridew thows a body shot but no joy.
Merridew misses with an uppercut.
Patel changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Merridew tries to avoid it but Patel manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Merridew to the ground. Merridew escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Patel fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Jack Merridew has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jugdish Patel.
Patel dives in and grabs Merridew's left leg, looking for a takedown. Merridew pushes down on Patel's head and hops out.
Merridew's jab looks to have found its range, popping Patel under the eye.
Nice body punch from Merridew.
Merridew throws an overhand right that lands on Patel's shoulder, as Patel tries to avoid the shot.
Merridew will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Patel uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Merridew.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nice uppercut lands for Merridew. That snapped Patel's head back.
Patel walks into a stiff left hand from Merridew.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Merridew throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Patel takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Donk. Merridew catches Patel right on the button with a cross.
Merridew throws a hook but Patel avoids it easily.
Merridew is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Merridew lands a jab to the head.
Merridew lands with a hook. Patel tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Patel takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Patel tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Merridew paws at him with a jab and circles away.
No luck for Patel with that takedown attempt.
Merridew scores with a jab to the head.
Merridew bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
A jab lands there for Merridew.


Patel is rocked!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Merridew tests Patel's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Patel is still on wobbly legs! Can Merridew finish him?
Patel is holding his hands too far apart here. Merridew throws a hard, straight punch right down the pipe and BOOM! Patel is out! That punch landed square on the jaw - what a shot!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:11 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jack Merridew!
