The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Key swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by DePloi. No luck for DePloi with that takedown attempt. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Key, as that shot connected.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that DePloi has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Key slaps away a takedown attempt from DePloi, before circling back to the center of the mat. DePloi shoots for a double leg takedown but Key sprawls well. He's pushed DePloi's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Tim Key has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan DePloi. DePloi tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Key swivels and escapes. DePloi tries for a takedown but Key circles away easily and Key counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. No joy there for Key, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

That's one minute gone in the round. Key leaves DePloi with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. DePloi fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Key avoids it really well and circles away. Key lands a straight punch to the body, keeping DePloi at a distance.
DePloi looks winded! Key scores with a jab to the jaw. Key stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Key wants it to stay on the feet. Key scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Key scores with a nice strike.
DePloi is rocked! This has been an exciting period of action! DePloi with a poor takedown and Key counters with a series of strikes that practically lifts DePloi off his feet! He tumbles backwards, his head bouncing off the mat - Key follows up with more strikes before the ref can step in but DePloi was out before he hit the floor.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Tim Key! Tim Key was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
