Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ike Norton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bob Sapp! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sapp tries to clinch up. Norton dives in and grabs Sapp's left leg, looking for a takedown. Sapp pushes down on Norton's head and hops out. Norton stuffs the takedown. Sapp tries to clinch but Norton moves away and Norton counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Sapp is lucky that one didn't land flush. Sapp misses with an uppercut
letting Norton counter with a right hand.
It looks like Bob Sapp has been cut. Norton walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
It looks like Ike Norton has been cut. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Sapp misses with a lunging right hand
and Norton counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Sapp scores with a punch to the head. Sapp throws a right hand that Norton ducks under and follows up with a left that Norton also avoids with ease. Sapp throws a right and a left that both miss. Sapp clinches with his opponent.
Sapp fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Sapp is looking to break free of the clinch but Norton has double underhooks. Sapp is trying to push Norton away but Norton has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Sapp tries to break free but Norton pushes him back against the cage. Sapp wants to get back to striking at distance but Norton won't allow it.
Norton tries to pull guard but Sapp forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Norton pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
That's one minute gone in the round. Norton avoids a punch combination nicely.
Sapp throws an overhand right from the outside, which connects and sends Norton stumbling backwards into the cage! Norton bounces back off the cage towards Sapp, who cracks him with a two punch combination that drops him to his knees! Sapp lands two more shots before the referee has chance to intervene - what a finish! Sapp celebrates with his corner as the crowd cheer loudly.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:11 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Bob Sapp! A victorious Bob Sapp thanked his army of followers in his post fight interview, telling people to make sure they follow him on Twitter.
