Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hiruku Matah (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mad Dog Vachon Ii (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matah comes to the cage accompanied by Walker the Texas Ranger Theme. The crowd seem to be enjoying Vachon Ii's choice of entrance music: Le Petit Poisson. Mad Dog Vachon Ii is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hiruku Matah! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Mad Dog Vachon Ii! The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Dean Styles and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Matah fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Vachon Ii avoids it really well and circles away. Vachon Ii darts in and clinches Matah up against the cage. Matah is trying to pull guard but Vachon Ii turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Vachon Ii throws a punch but it's blocked by Matah. Matah drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hiruku Matah. That's going to take a lot out of him. A right hook to the body lands for Vachon Ii.
Vachon Ii swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Vachon Ii is pressed up against the cage. Matah has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Vachon Ii down to the mat. Vachon Ii avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Vachon Ii stuffs the takedown. Matah shoots in and gets a takedown into Vachon Ii's guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Vachon Ii pulls Matah in to control the position. Matah trying to control but Vachon Ii is working from the bottom. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Vachon Ii can do anything to dispel that myth. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Matah with a flurry of punches that miss. Matah won't allow Vachon Ii to sweep him here. We've been hearing good reports from Matah's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Matah is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Vachon Ii defends it well. Vachon Ii wants to control but Matah is keeping busy.
Matah is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Vachon Ii is just riding it out for now. Matah eventually gives up the hold.

Vachon Ii really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Matah. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Matah thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Vachon Ii is trying is best to control the position here.

Vachon Ii connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Matah some visible discomfort.
Vachon Ii stands up and beckons Matah to his feet. Vachon Ii's jab looks to have found its range, popping Matah under the eye. Vachon Ii digs a good body shot into Matah's ribs. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Vachon Ii goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
It looks like Hiruku Matah has been cut. Vachon Ii scores with a nice strike. Matah looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Vachon Ii! Matah trying to control the action but Vachon Ii is working from the bottom. Matah tries to advance to mount but Vachon Ii denies him. Matah tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Matah has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Vachon Ii tries to improve position but can't. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Matah throwing shots but missing, from side control. Vachon Ii can't do much from the bottom here. Vachon Ii stops Matah from passing to mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mad Dog Vachon Ii showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Hiruku Matah's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Matah closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Matah lands in his opponent's guard. Vachon Ii is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Vachon Ii keeping moving, preventing Matah from controlling successfully. Vachon Ii controls Matah momentarily but Matah frees himself. Matah postures up in Vachon Ii's guard and throws a big left but Vachon Ii blocks it. Vachon Ii not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Matah trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Mad Dog Vachon Ii hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Matah will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Vachon Ii is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Matah throws an elbow but Vachon Ii slips to the side and avoids it well. Matah advances nicely into full mount. Vachon Ii working to try and regain half guard.

Vachon Ii knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Matah looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Matah is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Vachon Ii's shoulder. That is not cool. Matah trying to control the action but Vachon Ii is working from the bottom. Matah is trying to get an arm triangle but Vachon Ii is defending well. Vachon Ii is trying to improve his position. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Vachon Ii is pushing Matah's head away, looking to escape. Matah manages to hold on to the position though.
