Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nelson Pervis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian O Conner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pervis comes to the cage accompanied by Mistah F.A.B. - N.E.W. Oakland. O Conner is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Tokio Drift. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! O Conner looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Pervis with a lazy takedown attempt and O Conner counters with a lovely shot to the body. Pervis cracks a nice hook into O Conner's ribs. Pervis goes for a double leg but O Conner avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as O Conner continues to drive forward. Pervis drops to a knee looking for a takedown but O Conner gets the underhooks and prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nelson Pervis. That's going to take a lot out of him. O Conner wants the takedown. Pervis is fighting it off but O Conner persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Pervis's guard against the cage. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Pervis is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. O Conner loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. O Conner scoring with punches to the head and body. O Conner wants to control from the top but Pervis keeps moving. O Conner throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Pervis works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. O Conner lands a couple of elbows. O Conner cracks Pervis with a solid left hand.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pervis looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but O Conner puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. O Conner lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. O Conner scoring with strikes to the body and head. O Conner stops Pervis from getting back to his feet.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. O Conner connects with a nice short shot to Pervis's temple. O Conner looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
O Conner working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. O Conner is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Pervis sees it coming and defends easily. Pervis tries to kick O Conner off but O Conner keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. O Conner lands strikes from half guard. Pervis taking some punishment here, with O Conner in his half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Pervis is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but O Conner pulls his head out easily. O Conner landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. O Conner working over Pervis with some ground and pound. Pervis looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. O Conner scoring with strikes to the body and head. Pervis tries to get to full guard but O Conner has control of the leg. Pervis is trying to stand.
O Conner is nestled in close to Pervis, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. O Conner takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. O Conner throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Pervis blocking the ground and pound attempt from O Conner. O Conner working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Pervis is trying to defend against the ground and pound but O Conner scores with a couple of nice shots. Pervis is looking for a sweep. O Conner is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. O Conner lands strikes from half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. O Conner prevents Pervis from standing back up.
Pervis looking for a kimura from the bottom but O Conner passes into side control! O Conner prevents Pervis from escaping the position. Pervis is breathing heavily. Pervis tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but O Conner wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. O Conner avoids the strikes from the bottom by Pervis. O Conner in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. O Conner in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. O Conner wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Pervis, who protects the arm well. O Conner lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Pervis down.
Pervis is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. O Conner scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Pervis to see if he's OK.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pervis takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Pervis is rocked! This has been an exciting period of action! O Conner cracks Pervis with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! O Conner immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Pervis is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by O Conner!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Brian O Conner! Brian O Conner spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
