The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pending gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Urg wants to stand but Pending is controlling his posture from full guard.

Pending throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Pending working for submissions but it's allowed Urg to get to half guard.
Pending tries to get to full guard but Urg has control of the leg.
Urg lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Urg will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Urg is looking to advance position but Pending won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pending slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Urg tries to free his leg and advance position but Pending is retaining full guard.

Pending looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Urg passes into half guard.
Pending is looking for a sweep. Urg is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Urg wants to stand but Pending has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Pending is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Urg pulls his head out easily.
Urg looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Pending with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Urg is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Pending defends it well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Urg stands up and beckons Pending to join him on the feet.

and Pending counters with a single leg into guard. Urg didn't expect that.
Pending should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Pending drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Urg manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Pending has Urg in his guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Pending is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Urg is aware though and is defending well.
Pending is trying to keep Urg in close.

Urg is looking to work some ground and pound but Pending has wrist control.

Urg wants to control from the top but Pending keeps moving.

Pending has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Urg is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Pending.

Urg looks up at the clock and then as Pending takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Urg smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Pending is staying active underneath Urg, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Urg is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Pending doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Urg.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Urg decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Pending is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Urg content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Urg is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
