Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kyle Ward (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rufus Shepherd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shepherd has chosen Alter Bridge - Addicted to pain as his entrance music. Rufus Shepherd will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Fedor Mirinova and Dmitry Maklakov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shepherd gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Shepherd is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Ward is not content to let Shepherd control the position.
Shepherd works his way into full mount!

Shepherd misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Ward knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Shepherd on the ground.
Shepherd has control of Ward's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Ward regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Shepherd wants to finish this one by submission but Ward is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Shepherd.

Shepherd looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Shepherd with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Poor strikes thrown by Shepherd there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
