Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, JunJun Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Praying Mantis! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Yuuki Gou and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Jones was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Mantis tries to improve position but can't. Jones working away. Jones creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Mantis sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Mantis manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Mantis wants to control but Jones is keeping him busy. Mantis looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's one minute gone in the round. Jones is staying active underneath Mantis, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Mantis seems to be looking for submissions.
Mantis is looking for a kimura but Jones is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Mantis to get the leverage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mantis is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Jones to slip a leg under and get back to full guard. Jones keeping full guard, as Mantis tries to pass. Jones knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mantis on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mantis wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving. Mantis stands and throws Jones's legs to the side, diving into side control. Mantis wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Jones, who protects the arm well. Mantis is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Jones looks calm but he's in trouble here. Mantis gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Jones is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Mantis lets go of the hold and Jones can pop his arm back in it's socket.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Praying Mantis! After winning the bout, Praying Mantis thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
