Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Steven Jhones!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Lou da Vinci and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carney gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Carney really is a fat lump.
Jhones drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Carney lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Jhones backwards.

Carney has hold of Jhones's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Jhones manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Carney tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Carney throwing strikes here but Jhones is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Carney throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Carney pushes Jhones up against the cage in a clinch.

Jhones goes for a takedown attempt but Carney pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Carney drives through with a takedown into Jhones's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Carney closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Carney will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Jhones has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Carney is landing a low percentage of strikes.
George Carney seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Carney gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Jhones tries to score a body lock takedown but Carney shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Carney has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Jhones uses from the top position.

Jhones moves out of range of the body kick from Carney.

Carney tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Carney tries to score with some ground and pound. Jhones controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Jhones takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Jhones slips a jab and a cross from Carney.
