With a record of 36 - 16 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nikolai Kovalenko!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kovalenko misses with a body kick.
Powers blocks a jab.

Powers lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Kovalenko at a distance.
Nikolai Kovalenko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kovalenko fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Powers is out of range.

Kovalenko throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kovalenko lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Kovalenko will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Powers takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Powers has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Kovalenko finds it's way round the side to connect with Powers's head.
Kovalenko looks to throw the jab but Powers is out of range.
Powers throws a body kick that misses.
Kovalenko goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

Powers keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Powers avoids the head kick by Kovalenko.

Powers drops Kovalenko with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Kovalenko looks back up at him and smiles so Powers waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.


Kovalenko is rocked!
Kovalenko lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Powers circles away quickly and effectively.
Kovalenko is still on wobbly legs! Can Powers finish him?
Kovalenko misses with a few strikes there.
Kovalenko seems to have recovered his senses.
Kovalenko rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Powers moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Good exchange - Powers coming out on top.
Powers lands with a thumping leg kick.
Powers connects with a solid leg kick.
Kovalenko looks winded!
Kovalenko takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Kovalenko checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Powers looks for the body kick but Kovalenko saw that one coming.

A good leg kick by Powers.
Powers throws a nice inside leg kick.
Kovalenko is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Powers.

Kovalenko throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Kovalenko ducks under a wild hook from Powers.
Powers loads up on a big right hand but Kovalenko slips the punch.
Powers throws a jab when Kovalenko was well out of range.
Powers moves forwards but Kovalenko connects with a nice, crisp jab.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kovalenko buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Powers ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Powers with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Kovalenko to score with a decent uppercut.

Kovalenko closes the distance and lands a one-two.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Kovalenko throws the kick towards the body but Powers avoids it.
Powers looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Powers looks to throw the jab but Kovalenko is out of range.
Austin Powers is winning the standup battle so far.
Powers moves out of range as Kovalenko strikes.

Powers cracks Kovalenko with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Powers has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Kovalenko to stand back up!
Powers has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Powers throws a sloppy head kick and Kovalenko moves out of range easily.
Powers walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Kovalenko drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Powers swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Kovalenko's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Austin Powers!
After winning the bout, Austin Powers thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
