Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Joey Durant! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, The Steel Penn! The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Radbod Blank and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Durant throws a body kick that misses. Steel Penn thows a left - swing and a miss! Durant throws a sloppy head kick and Steel Penn moves out of range easily. Excellent takedown into side control there by Steel Penn. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Durant wants to control but Steel Penn postures up. Steel Penn is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Durant is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Steel Penn tries for a kimura but Durant is defending well. Steel Penn wants to lay and pray for a moment but Durant keeps working. Durant tries to escape but Steel Penn is in control. Durant definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Durant struggling a bit here. Steel Penn is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Durant has escaped the position, nice work there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Steel Penn is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Durant is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Steel Penn swings around for an armbar but Durant sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Steel Penn's guard. Durant wants to control from the top but Steel Penn keeps moving. Steel Penn manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Durant has left one of his arms exposed and Steel Penn doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Durant screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). The Steel Penn! In defeat, Joey Durant stepped up to the mic, saying 'Well, thanks GFC for offering me this great fight, I just failed tonight. I will train and come more prepared next time.'.
