Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Ivanovich (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Ivanovich might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Rammstein - Sehnsucht. Andrew Jackson told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Andrew Jackson! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Donatello Bradman and Ben Watson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jackson looks to land a combination. Ivanovich sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Ivanovich looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Jackson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Jackson keeping full guard, as Ivanovich tries to pass. Our spies down at at Madz inform us that Jackson has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? Jackson manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Ivanovich is working hard here to advance position. Ivanovich tries to hold on but Jackson pushes him away. Jackson wants to stand but Ivanovich is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
Ivanovich's coaches at Madz have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position. Ivanovich on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Ivanovich tries to get out of the position. Ivanovich tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jackson tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment. Ivanovich slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ivanovich controlling the position for now. Ivanovich's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Ivanovich moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Ivanovich looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jackson is one step ahead there. Jackson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Ivanovich is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Jackson wants to stand but Ivanovich has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Ivanovich has his hands on Jackson's head, controlling the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Jackson throws out a powerful jab. Ivanovich throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Jackson was covering up waiting for the punch and Ivanovich finishes the takedown easily into guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Jackson looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Ivanovich with a flurry of punches that miss. Ivanovich looking to pass the guard. Ivanovich postures up.

Ivanovich might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Jackson wants to sweep but no luck. Ivanovich works a leg free and moves into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ivanovich uses his free foot to push down on Jackson's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Jackson. Ivanovich lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Jackson hang on? Ivanovich working away from the top, dropping strikes.
It looks like Andrew Jackson has been cut. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Ivanovich putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Alexander Ivanovich! A determined Alexander Ivanovich didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
