Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 14 - 0, fighting out of London, Greco Roman! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Sub Position! The judges for this bout are James Glass, Chris Edwards and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Position misses with a takedown and Roman decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Position's guard. Position keeping moving, preventing Roman from controlling successfully. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Position is on top in guard.
Roman is controlling Position's posture. Position controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. We've been hearing good reports from Roman's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Position wants to control from the top but Roman keeps moving.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Sub Position wasn't active enough on the ground. Position with a lazy takedown attempt and Roman counters with a takedown into side control. Roman wants to control but Position is keeping him busy. Position is trying to buck Roman off. Roman tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Position is trying to get back to half guard.

This has been an exciting period of action! The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Roman trying to control the action but Position is working from the bottom. Roman is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Roman is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Position reverses the position - he's now on top in Roman's guard. Position engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Roman keeping moving, preventing Position from controlling successfully. Roman has his foot on Position's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Position works his way back into a safe position though. Position drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Roman manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Position has Roman in his guard. Roman controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Roman looking to sit in guard and control but Position gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Position works a leg free and moves into half guard. Position trying to control from Roman's half guard. That's seven minutes gone in the round. Position is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Roman doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Position. Position is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Roman defends it well. Position is working for a submission of some sort.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Roman is defending against the submission attempts here by Position.

That's nine minutes gone in the round. Roman is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Roman is staying active underneath Position, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Position is looking for a kimura but Roman is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Position to get the leverage. Position is keen to just control but Roman is a slippery customer. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Position trying to control from Roman's half guard. Roman has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Position stands and throws Roman's legs to the side, diving into side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Greco Roman will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Roman tries to score a power double leg takedown but Position sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Roman somewhat. Roman fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Roman shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Position as he avoids it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Greco Roman. That's going to take a lot out of him. Position gets the takedown into side control. Position has knee on belly and moves into mount. Position jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Roman is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Roman and Position has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Position trying to control the action but Roman is working from the bottom. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
That's one minute gone in the round. Position moves into full mount! Position trying to control but Roman is having none of it. Position is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Roman is forced to tap! Great finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Sub Position! Sub Position is the new lightweight champion! Sub Position decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
