Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Robin Nash! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Avery McCurnin! The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nash keeps the fight on the outside. McCurnin has a takedown stuffed. McCurnin avoids the head kick by Nash.
Nash misses with a two punch combination.
McCurnin tries to clinch there but Nash circles away.
McCurnin shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Nash as he jumps to the side. McCurnin keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Nash. McCurnin shoots in for a takedown but Nash shows good takedown defense. Robin Nash has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Avery McCurnin. Nash tries a head kick but it misses.

That's one minute gone in the round. Nash pulls McCurnin in to control the position. McCurnin stops Nash from standing up. Nash manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. McCurnin manages to get himself to full guard.

Nash takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. McCurnin wants to get back to full guard. Nash really is a fat lump. Nash stands up out of the half guard. Nash defends well against a solid takedown attempt from McCurnin. Nash looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McCurnin takes a kick to the side of the head. Nice takedown defense from Nash. No joy for McCurnin on that attempt. Nash misses with a double jab.
Nash throws a sloppy head kick and McCurnin moves out of range easily. McCurnin shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Nash manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. McCurnin controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as McCurnin accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. McCurnin is looking to advance position but Nash has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
That's four minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. McCurnin manages to regain half guard. Good work. McCurnin trying to control here.
Nash is trying to control. McCurnin wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nash wants to stand up but McCurnin is controlling the position.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Nash in particular looking to stall. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Robin Nash will probably get the nod. That's time! Nash's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
McCurnin shoots in looking for a takedown but Nash manages to keep the fight standing, pushing McCurnin's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Nash swats away the attempt to clinch by McCurnin. Nash catches McCurnin with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Nash scores with a nice body kick.
McCurnin has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight. Nash tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Nash misses with a double jab
and McCurnin counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. A jab from Nash misses. Nash pulls out of a head kick attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round. McCurnin moves into range and clinches up with Nash. Nash is trying to break free. McCurnin is trying to pull guard but Nash has him pressed against the cage. Nash breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. McCurnin blocks a head kick by Nash.

That's going to take a lot out of Avery McCurnin. McCurnin is breathing heavily. A frustrated look appears on Nash's face as he tries to break the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nash is trying to force a seperation but McCurnin has the dominant position. Nash is looking for a takedown up against the cage. McCurnin gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Nash working hard to break the clinch. Nash tries to break the clinch but McCurnin is controlling the position. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Nash looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Nash pulls McCurnin into guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Avery McCurnin hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. McCurnin tries a head kick but it misses.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Nash defends well against a solid takedown attempt from McCurnin.

Nash escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McCurnin gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Robin Nash is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. McCurnin pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Nash is keeping the position for now. McCurnin content to stall in guard here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McCurnin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nash swivels though and keeps the full guard. Nash is trying to control the position but McCurnin postures up. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Nash is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and McCurnin defends well. McCurnin looking to sit in guard and control but Nash gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Robin Nash. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Nash, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
