The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shields tries to clinch but Dillashaw moves away and Dillashaw counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Dillashaw content to control rather than advance. Dillashaw throwing shots but Shields is blocking nicely. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Dillashaw in particular looking to stall. Shields keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Dillashaw is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Dillashaw has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Dillashaw seems to be working for a kimura but Shields defends the submission attempt.

Dillashaw turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Dillashaw manages to end up in side control. Dillashaw is staying tight to Shields's torso, preventing him from escaping. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Dillashaw stands up and we're back to a striking position. Shields misses with a takedown and Dillashaw holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Shields prevents the takedown attempt.

And that's the end of the fight! TJ Dillashaw showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Dillashaw, winning every round. Will the judges agree?
