The judges for this bout are Josh West, Paul Gruel and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Richards uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Danzig.
Danzig throws a series of strikes that have Richards backpedaling.
Danzig throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Richards gets tackled into the cage by Danzig. Danzig maintains the clinch.
Danzig blocks a punch to the side of the head.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Danzig has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

and Richards counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Danzig closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Danzig lands in his opponent's guard.
Danzig thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Danzig postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Richards is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Danzig is sitting in close to Richards's body. Richards has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Danzig is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Danzig is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Richards.
