The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dutra darts in looking for a takedown but Chapman gets double underhooks and turns Dutra into the cage. Dutra turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Dutra manages to end up in side control. Chapman parries the strikes from Dutra easily there. Dutra is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Chapman to escape.
Dutra trying to control the action but Chapman is working from the bottom. Dutra is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Chapman is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Chapman is not content to let Dutra control the position. That's one minute gone in the round. Dutra has knee on belly and moves into mount. Dutra with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Chapman can do anything to dispel that myth. Dutra working for a guillotine from mount but Chapman is in no mood to give up.
