PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robert Drysdale (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Talbert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Robert Drysdale has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Robert Drysdale seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Robert Drysdale!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sam Talbert!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Wagner Zegers and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A lazy left from Talbert finds it's target.
Talbert throws the left hand but Drysdale avoids the punch easily.
Talbert waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Drysdale.
Talbert looks to land a right hand but Drysdale moved out of range.
Talbert cracks Drysdale with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Talbert smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Talbert misses with a few strikes there.
Drysdale misses with an uppercut. Talbert saw that one coming.
Talbert misses with a double jab
and Drysdale counters with a nice uppercut.

Talbert's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Talbert duly obliges.
Drysdale avoids the body shot from Talbert.
Talbert missing with a left hand there. Drysdale was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Drysdale takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Sam Talbert is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

and Drysdale decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Talbert's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Talbert has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Drysdale wants to control from the top but Talbert keeps moving.
Drysdale seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Robert Drysdale.
Drysdale displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Talbert throws out the jab.

Talbert throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Talbert sizes up Drysdale with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Drysdale bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Sam Talbert seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Talbert scores with a crisp jab that stopped Drysdale in his tracks.
Drysdale looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Drysdale looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Talbert is fending him off so far but Drysdale persists. Nope, Talbert circles away and we're back to standing.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Talbert might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Drysdale tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Talbert defends well and Drysdale ends up having to push Talbert into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Robert Drysdale.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close second round but I would say that Robert Drysdale will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Drysdale shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Talbert pinned against the cage. Talbert gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Talbert feints a jab promting Drysdale to slip. Talbert then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Drysdale slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

enabling Drysdale to counter with a crisp jab.
Talbert misses with a hook. Drysdale ducked under it nicely.
Drysdale moves out of range as Talbert strikes.
Talbert lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Drysdale backs up against the cage.
Talbert's corner calls for a 1-2. Talbert obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
This has been an exciting period of action!

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Drysdale needs to keep his hands up - Talbert had a free shot at his head there.

Sam Talbert comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Talbert has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
