PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Freddy Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dak Ishii (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Evans comes to the ring accompanied by "A Country Boy Can Survive" by Hank Williams Jr.. Ishii has chosen Insane in the membrane by Cypress Hill as his entrance music. Freddy Evans has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Freddy Evans!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dak Ishii!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Hirohito Nitta and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Evans throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ishii's waist but Ishii gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Evans off to one side.
Evans will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Evans gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Ishii stopping the sweep attempt from Evans.
Evans doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Evans is looking to sweep but instead, Ishii has passed into half guard.
Ishii prevents Evans from improving his position.
Ishii wants to get back to his feet.
Ishii wants to lay and pray for a moment but Evans keeps working.

Ishii tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Evans.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Evans moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Evans isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Ishii stacks Evans on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Ishii!
Evans tries to buck Ishii off but Ishii is having none of it.
Ishii tries to stand but Evans is controlling his head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Evans is trying to improve his position.
Evans is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Evans is not content to let Ishii control the position.
Evans makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Evans.
Evans wants to sweep here but Ishii controlling him for the moment.

Evans looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Ishii has picked Evans up and slammed him! Evans can't keep hold of the triangle and Ishii manages to pass to side control!
Evans is looking to regain half guard here but Ishii keeps moving and retains side control.
Ishii trying to control the action but Evans is working from the bottom.
Evans manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Evans is looking for a sweep. Ishii is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Ishii trying to control from half guard but Evans is working away.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Ishii is trying to work for a kimura but Evans is defending well.
Evans wants to get back to full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Evans tries to clinch up but Ishii circles away and keeps his distance.
Ishii throws a big shot that misses.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Ishii. Evans shrugs it off though.
Evans is breathing heavily.

Evans darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
And that�s the end of the round � the fighters go back to their corners.

Dak Ishii dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Evans shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Ishii is looking for a sweep. Evans is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Evans is thwarting Ishii's attempts to control the position.
Evans wants to advance to full mount but Ishii doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Ishii working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Evans doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Evans manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Evans stands and throws Ishii's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Ishii is breathing heavily.

Ishii is trying to get back to half guard.

Evans tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Evans has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Evans thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Evans swings around for an armbar but Ishii sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Evans's guard.

Evans looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Ishii has picked Evans up and slammed him! Evans can't keep hold of the triangle and Ishii manages to pass to side control!
Evans is trying to improve his position.

Ishii decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Ishii drops Evans with a left right combo! Ishii follows him down to the ground into side control.


Evans is rocked!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Evans looks to move to half guard but instead Ishii has passed into mount! Damn!
Oh Evans is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Ishii takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Evans seems to have got his legs back now.
Evans working to try and regain half guard.
Ishii manages to capitalize on a mistake by Evans to take his back!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Ishii is hanging on to Evans's back as he tries to escape.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Evans tries to break free.
Evans is working hard here to advance position.
And that�s the end of the round � the fighters go back to their corners.

Dak Ishii showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Evans has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Ishii.
Evans fails in his attempt to clinch.

Ishii looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Evans!
Ishii wants to control the pace but Evans is squirming around nicely.
Evans tries to improve his position but instead Ishii has taken his back!
Evans is really stuck here.
Evans is keeping busy.
Evans trying to get back to his feet but Ishii is in full control for now.

Evans can't escape the position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Ishii biding his time, controlling Evans.
Ishii struggling to keep hold of the position.
Ishii controlling well, preventing Evans from escaping the position.
Ishii is trying to stick to Evans's back but Evans is turning into Ishii. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Ishii's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Evans.

Ishii pushes Evans off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Evans moves in looking to clinch but Ishii pushes him off.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Ishii.
Evans changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ishii tries to avoid it but Evans manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ishii to the ground. Ishii escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Ishii lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Ishii works over Evans's head and body with a nice combination.
Left hook, right uppercut from Ishii.
A low kick from Evans is predictable there

and Ishii counters with a takedown into side control.
Ishii controlling the position from side mount.
Evans is looking to reverse the position.
Evans manages to work his way to half guard, despite Ishii's best efforts.

Evans looking for a kimura from the bottom but Ishii passes into side control!
Evans tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Ishii wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Evans is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Evans wants to improve his position but Ishii is controlling well.
Evans wants to get back to full guard but Ishii has passed into side control.
Evans regains half guard.
Ishii blocks the strikes from Evans.

Ishii moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Evans.

Ishii stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Evans avoids a kick to the body.
Freddy Evans has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Ishii fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Ishii misses with a body kick.
Dak Ishii seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Evans with a lazy takedown attempt
and Evans takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
A head kick misses from Evans.
Evans shoots for a takedown but Ishii saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dak Ishii comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ishii has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
