Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Colton Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gregory Pen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Colton Smith! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gregory Pen! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Tiny Johnson and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith wants to clinch up but Pen keeps it at a distance. Smith tries to clinch up. Pen looks for a takedown but Smith sprawls well. An inside leg kick lands from Pen. Smith shoots in looking for a takedown. Pen tries to sprawl out of it but Smith keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Pen manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Pen gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. A right handed body shot lands from Pen.
Pen gets a trip takedown into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pen wants to control but Smith is keeping him busy. Smith looking for submissions off his back. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Pen is taking a breather. Smith says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pen looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Smith is not content to let Pen control the position. Pen is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Smith sees it coming and defends easily. Pen thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Pen sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Smith defending well though. Pen is looking to take a break and control but Smith is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Smith avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Pen. Pen thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Pen lands a nice short elbow. Pen throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Smith avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Pen. Smith on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Smith tries to get out of the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pen slips a nice elbow through Smith's hands, connecting with Smith's forehead. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Pen lands a nice short elbow. This has been an exciting period of action! Smith tries to get to full guard but Pen has control of the leg. Pen missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Pen drops an elbow to the side of Smith's head. Pen moves nicely into side control. Pen postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Smith knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pen on the ground. Smith tries to bench press Pen off him but Pen keeps the position. Smith is not content to let Pen control the position. Pen works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Pen misses with the ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pen avoids the strikes from the bottom by Smith. Smith tries to buck Pen off but Pen is having none of it. Smith dodges the ground and pound from Pen. Smith is working to avoid the ground and pound but Pen connects with a decent elbow. Pen tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Pen has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Smith is trying to control Pen's posture but Pen avoids it. The ground and pound from Pen seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Smith is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Check out the look on Pen's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Pen trying to control the action but Smith is working from the bottom. Pen working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Pen lands a decent elbow from side control. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Pen works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Pen in side control lands a decent elbow. Pen fails to land a wild elbow strike.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Pen prevents Smith from escaping the position. Pen is working to tighten his grip on Smith's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Smith has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Pen is really squeezing tight and eventually Smith passes out! Pen breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
