The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Castillo slaps away a takedown attempt from Sanchez, before circling back to the center of the mat. Sanchez closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Castillo's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Sanchez sitting in guard here, content to control. Castillo avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Sanchez controlling from the top position. Sanchez prevents Castillo from getting back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sanchez is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Eduardo Sanchez just wasn't active enough. Sanchez looking to score a takedown here. Castillo is defending well but Sanchez drives through and ends up in Castillo's guard. Sanchez stands up over Castillo, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Castillo wants to sweep here but Sanchez controlling him for the moment. Sanchez sitting in guard, not really doing much. Sanchez trying to control the position from guard on top but Castillo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Sanchez passes Castillo's left leg - he's now in half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sanchez seems to be working for a kimura but Castillo defends the submission attempt. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sanchez moves into full mount! Castillo won't be happy about that! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Sanchez unloading with bombs! Castillo is desperately trying to improve his position but Sanchez has a good base and remains in mount. Sanchez working Castillo over with strikes here. Sanchez looking to finish Castillo with some ground and pound. This is bad for Castillo! Sanchez looking to control and managing it successfully. The referee warns Castillo that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sanchez controlling the pace for now. Sanchez working Castillo over with strikes here. Sanchez looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Castillo is in all sorts of trouble here.
Sanchez has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Castillo looks winded! Sanchez trying to control but Castillo is having none of it. Sanchez controlling the pace for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sanchez working the ground and pound effectively.
Sanchez tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Castillo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sanchez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Castillo tries to reverse the position but Sanchez maintains control. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Sanchez cracks Castillo with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Sanchez landing strikes, looking to finish! Sanchez raining down shots from the mount! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sanchez closes this distance looking for a takedown but Castillo circles away. Sanchez is trying hard to land a takedown here. Castillo sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Sanchez closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Castillo quickly recovers to half guard. Castillo avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Sanchez. Castillo is trying to get back to full guard. Sanchez landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Sanchez in particular looking to stall. Sanchez is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sanchez drops an elbow to the side of Castillo's head. Sanchez is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Sanchez seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Castillo does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Sanchez moves into full mount! Castillo won't be happy about that! Sanchez with the ground and pound from mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sanchez postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Castillo looks a forlorn figure.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Sanchez controlling from the full mount. Castillo is bucking up trying to escape but Sanchez cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Sanchez controlling the pace for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Castillo is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Sanchez locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Castillo is forced to tap!
