With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mike Carter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Frank Lister!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Johanna Lukiainen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lister scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Lister sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Carter is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Carter looks to move to half guard but instead Lister has passed into mount! Damn!

Lister is landing with some decent strikes but Carter is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Lister closes this distance looking for a takedown but Carter circles away.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

and Lister counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Lister is pushing down on Carter's leg trying to pass to half guard. Carter is fighting to maintain full guard but Lister has managed to sneak the leg through.
Carter is staying active underneath Lister, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Carter is looking to get back to is feet but Lister passes into side control.
Carter tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Lister wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Carter is looking for a sweep.
Lister scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Carter to see if he's OK.

Carter keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Lister fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Mike Carter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Lister.

Carter throws a push kick but Lister slaps the foot to one side.
Carter tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Lister swivels and escapes.

Carter decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Carter postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Lister is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Carter, into his guard.

Lister is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Lister shoots in but Carter avoids the takedown attempt easily.

and Carter counters with a three punch combo that has Lister backing up. Lister nods at Carter to acknowledge the strikes.
Carter closes the distance and clinches up with Lister, looking for a takedown. Carter pushes Lister against the cage but Lister circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Carter gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Lister postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Lister is looking to work some ground and pound but Carter has wrist control.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lister accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Carter wants to sweep here but Lister controlling him for the moment.
Carter scores with a couple of body punches from the bottom.
Lister with a flurry of punches that miss.
Carter is trying to keep Lister in close.
Frank Lister has got the better of the ground game so far.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

and Carter counters with a nice body shot.
Carter doesn't manage to clinch there - Lister circles away.

and Carter counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Lister shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Carter pinned against the cage. Carter gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Lister shoots in for a double leg but Carter sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Lister looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

and Carter counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Lister's guard now.

Carter stands up and waves to Lister to follow him.

Lister tries to pull guard but Carter holds him up against the cage and eventually Lister drops back down to his feet.

Carter ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Carter no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Carter is looking to stand up but Lister isn't so interested in that idea.
Carter wants to improve his position but instead Lister has moved into half guard.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

That's time! Carter's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Lister gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Carter is trying to drag Lister to the mat but Lister just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Lister bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Carter's guard.

Carter has his foot on Lister's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lister works his way back into a safe position though.

Carter's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
