Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Stacey Rush (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Billy Bobcat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 2, fighting out of New York, Stacey Rush!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Billy Bobcat!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, John Roberts and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rush keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Bobcat is looking to clinch.
Bobcat wants to clinch but Rush slips to the side

and Rush counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Rush breaks from the clinch.
Bobcat throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Bobcat is defended easily by Rush.
Bobcat tries to clinch there but Rush circles away.
Bobcat misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Bobcat lands a head kick!


It looks like Stacey Rush has been cut.
Bobcat throws a combination that misses
and Rush counters with a straight right hand.

Bobcat rushes Rush and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Bobcat tries for a takedown. No joy.
Rush is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Bobcat pulls him back up using the underhooks.
A frustrated look appears on Rush's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Bobcat is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Stacey Rush has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Billy Bobcat.
Bobcat is trying to drag Rush to the mat but Rush just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Bobcat keeps control of Rush as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Rush breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bobcat misses with an uppercut. Rush saw that one coming.
Bobcat jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Rush misses with a takedown attempt - Bobcat sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Rush lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Bobcat fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Bobcat keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Bobcat is looking to clinch.

Rush dives in and grabs Bobcat's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bobcat pushes down on Rush's head and hops out.
Good leg kick by Rush there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Bobcat fails with a takedown attempt.
Rush throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Bobcat's waist but Bobcat gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rush off to one side.

Bobcat drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Bobcat blocks the strikes from Rush.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rush is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Bobcat's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Bobcat is thwarting Rush's attempts to control the position.
Bobcat really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rush. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Rush makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Rush.

Rush is fighting to break Bobcat's control of his arms but Bobcat is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

We're going to have a standup here because Stacey Rush wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Rush throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Rush drives through and clinches with Bobcat against the cage.
Bobcat drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Rush gets the underhooks and prevents it.

That was a close round but I would say that Stacey Rush will probably get the nod.

Rush closes the distance and pushes Bobcat back into the cage.
Rush is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Bobcat wants to take the fight to the mat but Rush manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Rush has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Bobcat clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
I would not like to be Bobcat right now.

Rush is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Bobcat knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Bobcat for a finish.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Bobcat controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.

Bobcat is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Rush is looking for the choke from the back position but Bobcat is controlling his hands well.
Rush tries to get the hooks in deep but Bobcat pushed the leg off.

Bobcat tries to escape but Rush has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Bobcat is breathing heavily.
Bobcat is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Rush.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Rush dives in for a single leg takedown but Bobcat sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Bobcat has Rush pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Rush manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Rush is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Bobcat defends well.

Bobcat must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Bobcat can do anything to dispel that myth.
Rush wants to control from the top but Bobcat keeps moving.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Rush's corner is telling him to maintain position.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Billy Bobcat wasn't active enough on the ground.
Rush keeps the fight on the outside.
Rush moves in looking to clinch but Bobcat pushes him off.
Rush stuffs the takedown attempt from Bobcat. Bobcat gets slowly back to his feet.
Stacey Rush has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Billy Bobcat.
Bobcat takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Bobcat darts in and clinches Rush up against the cage.
Rush drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Bobcat gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rush, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
