Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cain Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Widen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cruz comes into the arena with head crusher blaring out of the sound system. Cain Cruz had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Cain Cruz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Alex Widen! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Peter Branson and David Hoff.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Widen looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Cruz! Widen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cruz keeps working. Cruz bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! Widen tries to clinch but Cruz is having none of it. Widen tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Cruz manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Cruz shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Cruz was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! The strikes coming from Cruz are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Widen is trying to get back to half guard. Widen can't do much from the bottom here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Widen is looking to reverse the position. Widen is trying to work for a sweep but Cruz has mounted him! Widen is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Widen is in all sorts of trouble here.
Widen is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Widen looks winded! Widen gets back to half guard. Cruz content to control rather than advance. Widen is trying to stand up here but Cruz is controlling him well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cruz lands with a punch from half guard. Widen trying to control but Cruz postures up.
Widen tries to roll over but Cruz keeps him under control. Widen wants to get back to full guard but Cruz has passed into side control. Widen parries the strikes from Cruz easily there. Cruz is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Widen to escape.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Cruz has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Widen dives in and grabs Cruz's left leg, looking for a takedown. Cruz pushes down on Widen's head and hops out. Cruz keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Cruz throws a low kick, looking for Widen's leg but Widen calmly moves out of range.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Widen shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Cruz defends it nicely. Nice takedown defense from Widen. No joy for Cruz on that attempt. Cruz shoots in for a double leg but Widen sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Cruz shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Cruz controlling the action here. Widen blocking the ground and pound attempt from Cruz.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Widen is looking to improve his position.
Cruz missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Cruz has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cruz controlling from mount. Cruz trying to control but Widen is having none of it. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Widen is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cain Cruz dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
A momentary lapse in concentration from Cruz enables Widen to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Cruz manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Widen is looking to work some ground and pound but Cruz has wrist control. Widen advances to half guard. Cruz is looking to control Widen's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Cruz avoid being mounted? Widen is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Cruz manages to get to full guard. Widen being controlled here momentarily. Cruz manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cruz tries for a takedown. No joy.
Widen fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Widen jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Cruz walks away with a smile on his face. Widen gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Widen tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cruz swats him away and circles back towards the center. Cruz tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Cain Cruz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Cruz misses with a takedown attempt - Widen sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Widen throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Widen misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Widen gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Cruz counters with a nice body shot. Cain Cruz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alex Widen. Widen is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Widen tries to keep at a distance but Cruz has taken the fight into the clinch. Cruz gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Cain Cruz overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Widen has momentary wrist control but Cruz slips an elbow through the middle. Widen controls Cruz momentarily but Cruz frees himself. Cruz lands a couple of decent looking shots. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Widen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Widen looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Widen is trying to keep Cruz in close.
Widen is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Cruz with a nice head shot there. Cruz stands up from guard. Let's bang! Cruz fails with a takedown attempt. Cruz bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cruz working the body and head with strikes. Cruz lands a nice forearm strike. Cruz tries for a kimura but Widen is defending well. This has been an exciting period of action! Cruz avoids the strikes from the bottom by Widen. Cruz stands up and we're back to a striking position. Cruz fails with an attempt to clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Cruz lands a jab to Widen's midsection. Cruz displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Widen. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cain Cruz dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Cruz closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Widen is looking to control Cruz's arms but Cruz gets an underhook and turns him. Now Widen has his back to the cage. Widen tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Widen looking to stall.
Cruz can't find room to land a body shot as Widen controls the action.
Cruz can't break the clinch.
Widen's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Cruz misses with a takedown and Widen counters with a single leg into guard. Cruz didn't expect that. Widen takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cruz keeping moving, preventing Widen from controlling successfully. Cruz looking to control.
Cruz manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Widen is trying desperately to improve position. Widen tries to lock up and control but Cruz gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cruz takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Cruz lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Widen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cruz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Widen tries to improve his position but Cruz has taken his back! Cruz has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Widen tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Cruz pushes Widen away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:44 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Cain Cruz! In his post fight interview, Cain Cruz started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
