Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rickson Bravo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 12 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nick Diaz! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bravo shoots in for a takedown and gets it. We've been hearing good reports from Bravo's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Diaz is trying to stand back up but Bravo is controlling him
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bravo is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Bravo prevents Diaz from improving his position. Bravo is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Diaz is just riding it out for now. Bravo eventually gives up the hold. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bravo is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Bravo slips a nice elbow through Diaz's hands, connecting with Diaz's forehead. Diaz looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Bravo is looking to take a break and control but Diaz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bravo is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Bravo working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Diaz is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Bravo pulls his head out easily. Bravo thows a huge punch but Diaz dodges it nicely.
Bravo seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Bravo trying to control from half guard but Diaz is working away. Diaz is defending against the submission attempts here by Bravo.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Bravo seems to be working for a kimura but Diaz defends the submission attempt. Diaz blocking the ground and pound attempt from Bravo.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bravo is looking for a kimura but Diaz is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Bravo to get the leverage. Bravo trying to control from half guard but Diaz is working away. Bravo wants to pass the guard but Diaz is defending well. Diaz tries to roll over but Bravo keeps him under control. Diaz actively working from the bottom here. Diaz on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. This has been an exciting period of action! Bravo is working for a submission of some sort.

Bravo stands and throws Diaz's legs to the side, diving into side control. Bravo landing a few strikes. Bravo works to advance to full mount. Diaz defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Bravo with a couple of short strikes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bravo quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Bravo but it's paid off an Diaz is forced to tap! Nice work by Bravo.
