The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alkhanov shoots for a takedown but Martinez saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Alkhanov throws a right and a left that Martinez avoids nicely.
Martinez gets tackled into the cage by Alkhanov. Alkhanov maintains the clinch.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Martinez keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Alkhanov's head.
Martinez has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

and Martinez makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Alkhanov really felt that one!
