Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Charles Cozad (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pj Veenstra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pj Veenstra has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 13 - 2, fighting out of Amsterdam, Charles Cozad!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Pj Veenstra!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Wagner Zegers and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cozad misses with a two punch combination.
Cozad fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Cozad takes one on the button.
Veenstra scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Sloppy strikes from Veenstra. Those never looked like landing.
Cozad throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Cozad forces Veenstra back against the cage and clinches.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A head punch on the inside from Veenstra fails to land.
Veenstra creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Veenstra is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Cozad is keeping busy.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Veenstra.
Cozad lands a hook to the side of the head.
A right handed body shot lands from Cozad.
Veenstra wants to get back to striking at distance but Cozad won't allow it.
Veenstra has had enough of the clinch but Cozad keeps him there for the moment.
Veenstra tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Cozad avoids it.

Cozad gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Veenstra regains guard.
Cozad wanted to stand there but Veenstra had control of the position.
Veenstra told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
Cozad passes into half guard.

We've been hearing good reports from Cozad's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Cozad is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Veenstra throws a series of punches but Cozad moves out of range.

Cozad closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Cozad stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Cozad shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Veenstra manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Cozad throws a big right hand that misses.
Cozad stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Veenstra swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Veenstra escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cozad gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Cozad is looking to work some ground and pound but Veenstra has wrist control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cozad wants to stand but Veenstra has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Cozad has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Veenstra working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cozad doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cozad manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Cozad got a little sloppy there for a moment and Veenstra has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Cozad has managed to get both his arms back between Veenstra's legs - danger averted.

Cozad wants to control from the top but Veenstra keeps moving.

Cozad is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Veenstra makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Veenstra.
Cozad is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Cozad has Veenstra pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Cozad pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Veenstra tumbling to the mat - Cozad dives into Veenstra's guard.

Veenstra is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Cozad decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Veenstra, up you get!
Veenstra lands with a slapping head kick.
Cozad avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Veenstra lands with a right that hurts Cozad. Cozad looks to clinch but Veenstra throws a short knee that drops Cozad. This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch and Knee). Pj Veenstra!
Jumping up and down and very excited, Pj Veenstra waved his t-shirt featuring Cyclone Nutrition Company's logo in front of the cameras.
