PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Travis Gunner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gavin Mia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gavin Mia told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gunner looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Mia!
Mia is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Gunner has hold of Mia's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Mia manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Mia is trying desperately to improve position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gunner really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gunner misses with a takedown attempt - Mia sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Mia rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gunner moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Gunner avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That was a close round but I would say that Travis Gunner will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Mia throws a shot from downtown. Gunner moves away and avoids it.
Gavin Mia seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mia lands a nice looking body shot.
Horrible takedown by Gunner or perhaps it was just good defense by Mia which made him look bad.
Gunner tries for a takedown but Mia sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Gunner manages to reverse the position and now he's in Mia's guard. Nice work there by Gunner.

Mia wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Gunner manages to pass to side control.

Mia is defending against the submission attempts here by Gunner.
Gunner looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mia with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Gunner gets to his feet. Mia looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Gunner throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mia's waist but Mia gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gunner off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Travis Gunner. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mia comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Gunner is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Mia is defending well though. Gunner let's go of the attempt for now.

Mia seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

That was a close second round but I would say that Travis Gunner will probably get the nod.
