Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ola John (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cranium Basher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Ola John has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ola John! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Cranium Basher! The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Arvi Lind and Marco Blurström.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Basher drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Basher postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. John is looking for a triangle but Basher pushes his legs off easily.
John looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Basher has picked John up and slammed him! John can't keep hold of the triangle and Basher manages to pass to side control! Basher wants to lay and pray for a moment but John keeps working. John's coaches at Bad Pluto! have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position. Basher is putting a hurting on John here, landing some big shots from side control. John tries to bench press Basher off him but Basher keeps the position. John is working hard here to advance position. Basher lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. This has been an exciting period of action! John taking punishment in the form of punches.
John tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Basher wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Basher is chipping away with strikes.

That's one minute gone in the round. John is looking for a sweep. John is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Basher wants to pass the guard but John is defending well. Basher moves into full mount! John won't be happy about that! Basher punishing his opponent with strikes. Basher lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Basher cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Basher prevents John from getting the reversal. Basher lands with some strikes. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! John is working to get back to half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Basher working John over with strikes here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. John in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Basher landing strikes, looking to finish! Basher raining down hammerfists from mount. John working to try and regain half guard.
John taking shots to the head. John slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. John gets full guard. Basher content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Basher scoring with punches to the head and body. Basher stopping the sweep attempt from John. Basher wants to control from the top but John keeps moving.
That's three minutes gone in the round. John has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Basher can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. John has his foot on Basher's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Basher works his way back into a safe position though. There's a bit of a scramble here and now John is on top in guard.
Basher wants to sweep here but John controlling him for the moment. John with a flurry of punches that miss. Basher looking to hit a scissor sweep but John is one step ahead there. Basher throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Basher preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. John stands and throws Basher's legs to the side, diving into side control. John will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. John scores with a couple of short elbows. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. John tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Basher tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but John wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! You can see the frustration on Basher's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. John goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Basher has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for John but great work by Basher. John tries to bench press Basher off him but Basher keeps the position. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Basher is looking to take a break and control but John is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. John sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cranium Basher dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Basher circles away from the clinch attempt so Basher counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Basher connects with a couple of short punches. Basher pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. John is keeping the position for now. Basher is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Basher looking to pass the guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. John bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Basher's guard. Basher working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from John. Cranium Basher has got the better of the ground game so far. Basher tries to land a sweep but no joy. John working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. John drops back, looking for a kneebar! Basher looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Basher looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Basher! John is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. John gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Basher slips a nice elbow through John's hands, connecting with John's forehead. John manages to get to full guard.
Basher trying to control but John is working from the bottom. Basher is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. John is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Basher has his hands clasped together but John extends and breaks Basher's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by John.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Ola John! Ola John retains his lightweight title!
