Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sam Brunt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, David Wilkins!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wilkins throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Brunt shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Wilkins pinned against the cage. Wilkins gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Wilkins misses with a head kick.
Some wild striking there from Brunt.
Brunt shoots in but Wilkins avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Wilkins throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Wilkins missing with a left hand there. Brunt was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Brunt is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Wilkins!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Brunt lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Brunt is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Wilkins has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Wilkins!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

That was a close round but I would say that Sam Brunt will probably get the nod.

David Wilkins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Brunt shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Wilkins as he jumps to the side.

Brunt shoots in looking for a takedown. Wilkins tries to sprawl out of it but Brunt keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Wilkins manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Wilkins fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Brunt looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Brunt is on top in guard.

Brunt moves into range and clinches up with Wilkins.
Brunt is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Wilkins looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Brunt is fending him off so far but Wilkins persists. Nope, Brunt circles away and we're back to standing.
Brunt throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Wilkins.

The fight stays on the outside here - Wilkins looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Brunt winds up and cracks Wilkins with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Brunt prevents Wilkins from improving his position.
Brunt looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Wilkins with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
