The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gnata tries a head kick but it misses.
Gnata misses with an uppercut. Salita saw that one coming.
Gnata takes one on the chin but seems OK.
It looks like Haloti Gnata has been cut.
Gnata walks into a jab.
We've been told by Gnata's head coaches at Men of Mayhem (1 TPL, 6 DBL, 5 SGL)(55 member cap) that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Salita tries a head kick but it misses.
Nicky Salita seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Salita walks into a stiff left hand from Gnata.
Salita scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

Salita fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Gnata avoids it really well and circles away.

Salita uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Salita loads up on a big right hand but Gnata slips the punch.
Salita clinches.
Gnata lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Gnata scores with a shot to the side of Salita's head.

Salita misses with a punch on the inside.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Salita creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Salita tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Gnata's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Salita looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Salita is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Gnata had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

Salita throws a jab but it's blocked by Gnata.
Salita just misses with a punch to the body.

Salita pivots, looking for a leg kick but Gnata is out of range and Salita settles back down.
Salita tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Gnata was well out of range. Poor timing from Salita.
Salita misses with a takedown attempt - Gnata sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Haloti Gnata has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nicky Salita.
Gnata throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Salita misses with an uppercut.
Gnata swinging wildly here.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Horrible takedown by Salita or perhaps it was just good defense by Gnata which made him look bad.
Salita takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Salita misses with a looping right.
Salita goes for a double leg but Gnata avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Gnata continues to drive forward.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Salita tries to work over Gnata's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Gnata uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Salita.
Gnata lands with a nice body punch.
Salita tries to move into range but Gnata moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Salita wants to clinch.
Oh, that's a big right hand from Gnata and Salita goes tumbling to the canvas! Gnata follows him to the ground and looks to finish from half guard.
Salita is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Still in half guard, Gnata seems content to control.
Salita is still in real trouble! Can Gnata finish him?
Gnata is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Salita is hurt! He's hurt bad - Gnata fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Salita from any more punishment! Congratulations to Gnata! Great finish!
