Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Frank James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shadow Deathgrip (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Frank James has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Frank James seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Frank James! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
21 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Shadow Deathgrip! The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Aafke Stam and Daniel Blasius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! James tries to score a power double leg takedown but Deathgrip sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten James somewhat. James throws a right hand that Deathgrip ducks under and follows up with a left that Deathgrip also avoids with ease. James tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Deathgrip defends well and James ends up having to push Deathgrip into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. I was talking to James's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. James pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Deathgrip throws a lazy uppercut
and James counters with a left and a right that stings Deathgrip. Deathgrip looking to score a takedown here. James is defending well but Deathgrip drives through and ends up in James's guard. Deathgrip throws a big right hand that misses. James working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Deathgrip doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Deathgrip manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. James looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Deathgrip moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from James. Deathgrip working the head and body with strikes. James tries to improve position but can't. Deathgrip happy to just control the position for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Deathgrip looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Deathgrip is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, James has escaped the position, nice work there. Deathgrip in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. James might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. James manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Deathgrip blocking the ground and pound attempt from James. James is working for a kimura here but Deathgrip manages to reverse the position and he's now in James's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action! Deathgrip with a flurry of punches that miss. James thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. James wants to sweep but no luck. James has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Deathgrip can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
That's three minutes gone in the round. James is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Deathgrip defends well. There's a bit of a scramble here and now James is on top in guard.

James is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Deathgrip doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time James. James looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
That's four minutes gone in the round. James missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. James is pressing down on Deathgrip's thigh, looking to free his foot. Deathgrip is holding on for now. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. James is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Deathgrip has managed to free his arm - good work. Deathgrip regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from James. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Deathgrip defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. James goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Deathgrip is on top in guard.

James drops back, looking for a kneebar! Deathgrip looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Deathgrip looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Deathgrip! Deathgrip is looking to take a break and control but James is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. James is looking to regain half guard here but Deathgrip keeps moving and retains side control. James gets back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Deathgrip lands with a punch from half guard. Deathgrip wants to control but James is keeping him busy. Deathgrip thows a huge punch but James dodges it nicely.
James regains full guard. Nicely done. James is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Deathgrip stands up over James, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. James had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Deathgrip defends it easily. Deathgrip is aware though and is defending well. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Deathgrip throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. James is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Deathgrip wants to pass the guard but James is keeping the position. James is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Deathgrip defends well. James keeping moving, preventing Deathgrip from controlling successfully. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Frank James dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
James has his takedown stuffed letting Deathgrip counter with a right hand. Deathgrip has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight. Deathgrip takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Nice jab there from James. James goes for a double leg but Deathgrip avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Deathgrip continues to drive forward. James is looking to take this one to the mat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frank James. That's going to take a lot out of him. James wants to take the fight to the mat but Deathgrip manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. James pulls Deathgrip into guard.

James tightening his grip on Deathgrip, looking for the choke. Deathgrip tries to escape but James has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Deathgrip won't enjoy being in this position.
